Goldman Sachs said Casella Waste Systems' strong pricing and growth outlook will ignite the stock. Casella stock has added 3.4% from the start of the year. Analyst Adam Bubes said the company's strong local market share as well as a promising expansion outlook could underpin double-digit future revenue growth. "Casella has 60% market share within a 50 mile radius of its landfills; the next highest in our coverage is 54%," Bubes said. "As a result, we see scope for CWST to sustain mid-to-high single digit solid waste pricing."

Recycling rates in US states could hit 75% if companies bear the costs, a study found. Recycling rates are high there, and taxpayers don't cover the bill, unlike in the US. The Recycling Partnership said it examined these states because they had the best available data. In most cases, recycling rates could get as high as 75%, de Thomas said. At least 11 others have either introduced legislation or plan to, according to a tally by The Recycling Partnership.

Coin-lock shopping cart systems are popular in Europe, and Poulos said more US companies are requesting coin-lock systems in response to the costs of runaway shopping carts.
